SPA CARE
FILTER MAINTENANCE
Filter maintenance is the critical factor in keeping your spa water clean.
(never run the spa without a filter installed)
To Clean the Filter.
Remove the cartridge and spray it with a garden hose. While spraying rotate the cartridge to thoroughly remove any debris lodged between the filter pleats. Inspect the cartridge when dry for calcium deposits or an oil film. Hard water or oil build up from the use of water scents or body oil may coat the filter cartridge.
We would recommend a filter cleaner to soak the cartridge to be used as part of your Spa maintenance. Use a sponge to remove any debris at the bottom of the filter housing and inside the filter screen. The use of a spare filter cartridge is recommended, this way one can be soaking and cleaning while you continue to enjoy the use of your spa.
EMPTYING OF YOUR SPA
Detergent residues from clothing as well as soap film from your body may gradually accumulate in the water. Eventually the soap build up in the water will concentrate enough to leave an unclean feeling on the user’s skin, which causes sudsing and makes the water impossible to clarify. Foam inhibitors will suppress the foam but will not remove the soap from the water. Depending on the soap input the water should last between 12 and 16 weeks. Therefore we would recommend emptying your spa every 12-16 weeks and refill with fresh water. Remember to turn off all power to the spa before you start to empty it. Please note that spa water with a high sanitiser level may be harmful to plants and grass. After emptying, remove the filter and clean as required. Inspect the spa shell and clean as required. Refill the spa BEFORE restoring power to it.
CEDAR CABINET To maintain your cedar from fading and to prolong the appearance and life of the cedar we recommend using a thin coat of Woodshield. Approximately three times a year apply a thin coat of the oil to the cedar cabinet.
WOODEN CABINET Although already stained from the factory, exposure to the elements will cause the wood to weather. You will be required to preserve it from time to time. We recommend that you use a mixture of Cedar Oil and Linseed Oil 3 – 4 times per year.
MINI ORB We would recommend that you clean the cabinet the warm soapy water twice yearly or as needed.
CARE OF SPA PILLOWS The spa pillows will provide years of comfort is treated with care. Each pillow is positioned above the water level to minimise the bleaching effects of chlorinated water and other spa water chemicals. We recommend that you remove the spa pillows each time you clean the spa itself and wash them in mild warm soapy water. ALWAYS rinse the pillows off thoroughly to ensure no cleaning residue remains.
SPA COVER CARE BY PINZ (www.pinz.com.au)
A few simple maintenance tips will keep your cover looking good and will extend its life many times over.
- Be careful of sharp objects and rough surfaces, when moving your spa cover.
- A Pinz Cover Lifter will extend your spa covers life by many years and make your life much easier every time you want to use your spa.
- Clean your cover regularly with a sponge and mild detergent in warm water. Give the spa cover a quick sponging over paying attention to the stitching and then rinse off with a hose.
- PINZ recommend 303 Vinyl Protectant to protect and beautify your spa cover. Do not use petroleum or silicone based vinyl treatments.
- Remove the spa cover when shocking the spa with chemicals, and leave off for an hour or two. Hot water and strong chemicals can speed up discolouration of your spa cover.
- Do not sit, stand or walk on your spa cover, try to avoid pets sleeping on your spa cover or kids jumping on it. The core of your spa cover is made of styrene foam and will break if stressed. The foam core is also reasonably easy to dent. Misuse will make your spa cover far from attractive in a short time. Loading of the spa cover will cause the foam to bend. This may allow water to pond on your spa cover and the core to take on water and get heavier. If ponding occurs, unzip your spa cover and turn the foam over.
- Spray the zip sliders with a little RP7 or similar every few months and jiggle them open and closed a little bit. This will ensure they will open, if some repair work ever needs to be done on your spa cover.
- Ensure your spa cover is unbuckled before lifting. The easiest way to tear your spa cover is to lift the spa cover while some buckles are still locked.
- Don’t lift or pull the spa cover by the straps, flaps, skirts or heat seals. Always lift by the handles or by firmly grasping the cover on one edge. Wherever possible use two people to move a spa cover. Better still install a cover lifter to add years of life to your spa cover
Make sure not to exceed the maximum recommended static load, keeping in mind that an object (child, pet etc.) falling or jumping will be much heavier than their static weight.
Use the maximum static load details as a guide, however keep in mind that the foam insert is designed to hold these weights over the whole spa of the foam, rather than in one concentrated point. A heavy weight in a small concentrated area (such as an adult’s weight applied by kneeling on one knee) greatly increases the chances of foam damage.
Maximum Recommended Static Load
Spa Cover by Pinz – 25kg static load bearing capacity
Cover Superior by Pinz – 75kg static load bearing capacity
Cover Superior Plus by Pinz – 125kg static load bearing capacity
